Library of Congress - Click on the “Digital Collections” tab to search for photos, newspapers, manuscripts, maps, etc. Great for primary source images!
National Gallery of Art – collection by artist, title, and subject 
Los Angeles Public Library Photo Collection emphasizes the history of Los Angeles, Southern California, and California. 
New York Public Library - provides free and open access to over 800,000 images digitized from the The New York Public Library's vast collections
*AP Images – Photographs from the Associated PressCreative Commons - Choose Google Images or Flikr.  Creative Commons is a great site to find photos that you can use without permission of the artist!
